Why I've Created This Course
I have been studying muscular and mental tension as a Massage Therapist turned Yoga instructor for over 25 years. Learning about the body first through my hands working with professional athletes in Maui, I have been blessed to continue to learn and practice with people with a wide range of activity levels, conditions, ability levels, and needs.
When I work hands-on with massage clients or teach in-person Yoga classes, I have the gift of offering a customized approach to releasing tension and finding what each individual needs. This has taught me so much over the years about Universal Instructions (what things generally work and are safe for most people) as well as Individual Instructions (how to modify/adjust these to support a wider range of needs).
People often ask what postures or stretches they can do to release tension. I find myself sharing foam rolling techniques pretty often because it combines postural shapes with massage to address specific muscles, and each person can adjust the pressure for their own benefit.
This led to creating a 2.5 hour workshop where I've been able to share these tools to large groups, receive feedback, and hear about their incredible results. This course is for everyone, but especially supportive as active recovery for athletes.
I have put those tools here together for you, along with a manual for a mini course in anatomy so you can experience and understand how your tension shows up and bring yourself relief where and when you most need it.
Because muscular tension is not always physically based, there are also breathing techniques, a warm up Yoga sequence, and reminders to slow down throughout the course so you can pause to be present with yourself, and release your tension at a pace that supports your overall well being.
Your Instructor:
Christy Naida Linson -ERYT500, LMT, Co-Owner of Prana Yoga Center and founder of Aligned Flow® began her Yoga practice in 1999 while in massage school in Maui, HI.
These two practices grew up together as she studied anatomy and physiology through her studies, tangibly through through massage therapy clients, and experientially through her own body in Yoga practice.
This combination later inspired her Yoga teaching style and the deep tissue and Thai massage work that she has offered to athletes of various sports throughout her practice, including 7 years with the NY Jets.
As she saw the incredible results of massage & Yoga as active recovery from running and her own gym workouts, she began to offer these tools to her clients with excellent results.
She is thrilled to offer this workshop in the hopes that it gives you the tools for a lifelong practice that relieves tension and helps to prevent injury.
